The Company of the Ivory Goat—often characterized by Aunt Petunia as “the most famous adventuring company in all the known world”—was established in Phirul in 2410 (the Year of the Horde), during that Tamarian city’s legendary Zombie armageddon. Its original four members were Viggo Estergom (heroic ranger, and the famed “promised one” spoken of in the Prophecy of the White Goat), Arnold Wurzel (traveling halfling), Thoradrin Mightstone (dwarven defender), and Dirock Thunderson (cleric of Kord). While some contemporary accounts state that Dirock refused to join the Company on the grounds that it was “a frivolous and dangerous blasphemy based on a fraudulent nonsensical barbarian miracle and the usual web of halfling lies,” the autobiographical account of Arnold Wurzel (Arnold, Two Viggos, and the Adventure of Great Adventureness) reports that Dirock was indeed a fervent believer in both the miracle and the company, and only feigned disbelief and annoyance out of a profound embarrassment that he was unable to make the Company’s secret hand-sign (see above).
The Company was later joined by the human warlock Noctuz-the-Distant, the eladrin sorceress Kiira-the-Well-Rehearsed, the human mage Skalrag-the-Really-Really-Brave, as well as entrepreneurs Samantha and Jason Heward. Among the most famous missions of the Company of the Ivory Goat are The Battle of Us and a Few Hobgoblins, the Great Bag of Holding Caper, the Battle of Us and Some Orcs, and the renowned Battle of Us and Some More Orcs.
